During our last lesson, I have learnt a lot about backgrounds of different people and how we should never carelessly make judgments without knowing people's background story.
From this lesson, I have deeply learnt that we should never simply judge a person without knowing their background story. We can never be sure by judging and instead, we should have different perspectives to understand something properly.
I am very grateful for this lesson that prepared us.
We were showed two pictures with different beggars begging for money. One depicted a man sitting by the road, asking for money. The other showed a disheveled-looking woman with a young baby, asking money from a man. Then, we were told to choose a person to help.
I chose the man sitting by the road. He seemed more desperate and he seemed to need just a little bit of money and it will make a big difference. Hence, I can make an immediate difference in someone's life. Meanwhile, although the young woman also needed the money, I can tell that it is not urgent or an emergency.
Later on, it was revealed that the man was actually robbed and needed one dollar to call his family so he could get home. The young woman was part of a scam group that staged it to gain pity and hence to con unsuspecting tourists and even locals of their money.
From this lesson, I have deeply learnt that we should never simply judge a person without knowing their background story. We can never be sure by judging and instead, we should have different perspectives to understand something properly.
I am very grateful for this lesson that prepared us.
